Each year the Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft awards up to three travel grants to early-career researchers who specialize in a humanities-oriented subfield of Oriental Studies. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification.
Travel grants of up to 2000 Euros each are awarded for concrete research projects (i.e., archives, libraries, field research) in the applicant's respective country of specialization, or else for stays designed to deepen the applicant's language skills and knowledge of the country in the course of obtaining an envisaged academic qualification. Travel expenses beyond 2nd class rail fares will not be reimbursed by the DMG.

Applications (CV, research proposal, and justification of the necessity for the stay) must be submitted electronically each year by March 1st to the First Chairman of the DMG:
Prof. Dr. Stefan Weninger
Centrum für Nah- und Mittelost-Studien
Philipps-Universität Marburg
Deutschhausstr. 12
D-35032 Marburg
E-mail: weninger@staff.uni-marburg.de.
Submissions received after this deadline will be considered for the following year.
Grant recipients are required to provide the DMG with a final report and accounting statement. Successful applicants must make use of the grant within two years of its approval.
The final report should not exceed five pages and will be published on the DMG website.
Upon request by the grant recipient, a summary of the report (not exceeding 600 words) may be read at the DMG General Assembly (Allgemeine Versammlung).
