The Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft (DMG) was founded in Darmstadt on October 2, 1845. It is the oldest scientific association dedicated to the study of languages and cultures of the Middle East, Asia, Oceania, and Africa. Today, the DMG is based in Halle (Saale).
