Welcome to the Website of the German Society: Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft

The Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft, founded in Darmstadt on the 2nd October in 1845, is the oldest association of German Orientalists. It’s members dwell mostly on languages and cultures of the Middle East, parts of Asia, Oceanica and Africa.

Attention: Due to the corona crisis the general assembly has to be postponed to November 8th.
Also due to the corona crisis the delivery of ZDMG (2020, fascicle 1) will be delayed. It will be delivered in autumn, together with fascicle 2. Thank you for your understanding.
The 34th ‘Deutscher Orientalistentag’ (DOT) is postponed for one year to September 2022.

The library of the DMG in Halle (Saale) has about 68,000 items (as of 2016).

Deutsche Orientalistentage (DOT)
The prestigious conference of German Oriental Studies which is held in intervals of three to five years.
